A Prior Street family business since 1983
Ken started the business in Prior Street in 1983, and it is still Western Australian owned and family run. Ken and Gwenda have since welcomed their son David into the business, so there are now two generations on the floor. We hold a Motor Vehicle Repairers licence and have licensed trimmers, which is what allows us to carry out this work.
We would rather talk about materials than adjectives. The finish on a job depends on what goes into it, and that is where we put our attention.
What we trim, make and repair
The workshop covers vehicle interiors and exteriors both, and we repair and modify as readily as we make new.
Our services
- Motor trimming: roof linings, door trim repairs, motorbike seats, canvas seat covers and seat repairs, and spare wheel covers.
- Vehicle headlining: we make and repair interior headlinings, and we specialise in vintage vehicle headlining replacement.
- Tonneaus: custom made to your vehicle in marine grade material or reinforced PVC, built for the Australian climate. We also resew and modify existing tonneaus and replace broken loops.
- Canvas and PVC canopies: made to fit any ute tray, in high grade reinforced canvas or PVC, in a range of colours. You choose the number of zips, windows and vents, and we can add fly screens for camping and fit around roof racks.
- Canopy modification: if you trade the vehicle up, we modify the canopy to fit the new one, resew it, and replace windows and loops.
- Marine trimming: boat canopies and side clears, biminis, rear awnings, marine carpet and hull lining, cabin lining, boat seats and cushions, boat covers, and padded window protection for travelling.
- Caravan and camping: roll-out awnings, PVC mesh and solid wall annexes, annex repairs and modifications, generator covers, shade mesh wind breaks, and canvas and PVC bags and covers for camping gear.
- Outdoor blinds: PVC mesh patio blinds, shade mesh and PVC privacy screens, in whatever shape and size suits the space.
Albany Canvas and Plastics: tarpaulins, covers and shelters
Over the last few years the volume of tarpaulins and PVC covers coming through got large enough that we brought the Albany Canvas and Plastics label in alongside the Ken Stone name, and extended the premises to fit the work. We run the two together, so a single call covers both.
That side makes and repairs poly, PVC and canvas tarps, ground sheets, shade mesh wind breaks, mesh load covers, sand tarps, builders tarps and field bin tarps. We make and repair roll tarps, repair side curtains, and handle covers from portable shearing shed covers right up to wide span Eco Shelters. For farms and contractors around the Great Southern, machinery covers and shelters are a good part of what we do.
