78 Dental: A Dental Practice on Aberdeen Street in Albany WA
We are 78 Dental, a dental practice in Albany WA at 78 Aberdeen Street, the street running parallel to York Street. We see patients from Albany and across the Great Southern, and we describe ourselves as a long-established practice that has been providing dental care to the region for generations. The practice is independently owned rather than part of a corporate group.
A restored building, with a laboratory on site
Our rooms are in a restored building on Aberdeen Street. We also keep a laboratory on site, with a milling machine used to make restorations here rather than sending every case away.
The people who will see you
Dr Jean-Pierre Devenish is our principal dentist. He earned his dental degree with honours in 2001 from the University of Pretoria, and his stated special interests are orthodontics and composite restorations.
Dr Rebecca Petherick is an associate dentist. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Curtin University before her Doctor of Dental Medicine at the University of Western Australia, and she came to Albany from New Zealand. Dr Dion Zhao, also an associate dentist, holds a Bachelor of Science majoring in physiology and a Doctor of Dental Medicine from UWA.
Susan Wood is our dental therapist. She graduated from Curtin University in 1989, has more than thirty years in the dental field, and joined us in 2014. She has also volunteered her dental skills internationally with the Tibetan Dental Project.
The dental services we provide
What we offer at the Aberdeen Street practice
- General dental: routine check-ups, cleanings and preventative care.
- Restorative dental: work to repair the health, function and appearance of teeth.
- Cosmetic dental: offered alongside our general and restorative work.
- Emergency dental: contact us as soon as you can and we will fit you in where we are able.
- Orthodontic treatment: provided here in the practice.
- Dental implants: a small titanium post placed into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth.
- Sleep appliances and mouthguards: custom-made splints, and sports mouthguards made to fit.
Appointments, health funds and payment
We are open Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm, and until 6pm on Thursdays. You can book by phone on (08) 9841 4545 or (08) 9841 4355, by email at [email protected], or through our online portal at 78dental.portal.dental. If you have a dental emergency, ring the practice rather than waiting for a routine slot.
We process HICAPS claims at the practice, so private health fund rebates can be handled on the spot rather than claimed back later. We accept Afterpay and Zip Pay, and Denticare is available to orthodontic patients. We see eligible children aged 2 to 17 under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule, and we accept Department of Veterans’ Affairs cardholders. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please get in touch with us as soon as possible; we keep a written cancellation policy on the site so the terms are not a surprise.
Alongside our patient information we publish the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights, which sets out what any patient in Australia is entitled to expect from a healthcare provider. We would rather the standards we work to were written down and visible than taken on trust.
