Albany District Insurance Brokers: general insurance broking in Albany WA
We are a locally owned and operated general insurance brokerage at Unit 2, 60 Aberdeen Street, Albany, serving this community since 1 July 1998. As an insurance broker in Albany, we act for the client rather than the insurer. The office number is (08) 9841 6199.
Who we are
Luke Cameron purchased the brokerage in July 2021, when Gerard and Vanessa retired, and took the role of Managing Director. In 2025 Ryan Benson bought in as a partner, bringing extensive insurance experience and long-standing ties to Albany. Across the team there is more than 100 years of combined industry experience. Alongside Luke and Ryan, the office runs with an administration manager, commercial, rural and personal lines brokers, assistant brokers and a claims manager, several of them working part-time on set days.
We have been in purpose-built premises since 2001; before that we worked for 15 years out of Middleton Loop. We are based in Albany and connected to the district, and we also act for clients across the rest of the country. We sponsor local community events and sporting associations.
What we can arrange
Classes of cover
- Commercial: business cover including public liability, commercial motor, workers compensation, plant and equipment, and property owners.
- Financial lines: professional indemnity, cyber, directors and officers, management liability and trade credit.
- Fleet: heavy motor fleet and commercial motor fleet.
- Marine and cargo: freight forwarders liability, cargo and transport, domestic boat and yacht, charter vessel and charterers liability.
- Construction risk: construction, contract works, owner builder and builders warranty.
- Rural: farm property, farm liability, farm vehicle and equipment, and crop.
- Domestic: motor, home and contents, landlords, boat, caravan, and personal accident and illness.
- Travel: leisure and corporate.
We do not arrange health insurance, though we are happy to point you towards someone who does. Where we already look after a business, we can take on the personal policies too so everything sits in one place, and we can review cover currently held through another broker or insurer.
Steadfast, the Code and what a broker does
Going direct to an insurer limits you to that insurer’s own products. A broker compares options across insurers and explains the differences. Through the Steadfast Group, the largest general insurance broker network in Australia and New Zealand, we have access to policies from more than 150 national and international insurers, and to products and pricing that are not always available to the public.
We are bound by the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice, published by the National Insurance Brokers Association, which forms part of Australia’s financial services consumer protection framework. Subscribing to it commits us to continuously improving our standards of service, promoting informed decision-making, and acting fairly and reasonably in every client interaction.
On cost, a quote is obligation-free and costs nothing. In most cases you do not pay us directly, because brokers are paid by the insurer through commission when a policy is taken out, although most of our invoices also include a broker fee. Any costs are set out before you proceed.
Claims, reviews and contact
If something happens, contact us and tell us what has happened. We will advise on the next steps and what information you need to provide, and we deal with the insurer on your behalf from lodgement through to finalisation. In an emergency, contact emergency services first; your safety comes before the claim. After that, take steps to minimise further loss and notify police where necessary. Photos and proof of loss, receipts or valuation certificates, police reports, repair quotes and builder, plumber or electrician reports all help. Keep damaged property so the insurer can inspect it if required. An excess applies in most cases. The amount depends on your policy and the type of claim, it is shown on your policy schedule, and we will explain the applicable excess when the claim is lodged.
We suggest reviewing policies at least once a year, and sooner if circumstances change, such as buying new assets, expanding a business or renovating a house. Identifying risks and advising on how to reduce them is part of the job as well. To arrange a review or a quote, call (08) 9841 6199, email [email protected], or come into Unit 2, 60 Aberdeen Street.
