The Health Nut: Health Food Shop in Albany WA
We are a health food shop in Albany, at 30 Peels Place. We bring quality natural health care advice and products to the people of Albany and the surrounding towns, and we sell both in store and through our online shop.
Who is behind the shop
The Health Nut is run by two owners, Anne Sparrow and Rachel Pontin, who took the business over as a women’s collective in February 2020. We are local women supplying local products, and we support locals whenever we can. If you make healthy food, beauty or cleaning products in the Great Southern region, let us know and we will consider stocking them.
What we stock
There are several hundred products on our website at any one time, and rather more than that on the shelves.
Around the shop
- Bulk foods: loose herbs, spices, dried fruit, nuts and grains, weighed out as you need them.
- Food and drink: herbs and spices, tea and hot drinks, and a gluten free range.
- Snacks: including a chocolate and carob selection.
- Supplements: brands including Blooms, Ethical Nutrients, Fusion, Herbs of Gold, Melrose, Nature’s Sunshine and Nutra Life, plus bone broth, collagen and protein powders.
- Personal care: skin care, hair care, hair colour, makeup and dental care.
- Essential oils, homeopathics and home care.
If we have not got it, ask us
Not everything we carry makes it onto the website, so if you cannot find something online it is worth asking. We are always happy to search for new and different products our customers request, and we take pride in handling special orders and one-offs. Ask any of our staff if there is something you cannot find in store or online.
We place orders with our major suppliers every two days, and stock can be shipped to us in as little as two days. Depending on the supplier, when we last ordered from them, and whether the product is available, an order may reach the shop for pick up within a week, or it may take up to two months. If something is out of stock, our staff can order it in, tell you when it is likely to be back, or suggest something similar.
Becoming a Health Nutter
Our membership is free to join and takes only a few minutes, either in store or over the phone. Members collect points on every purchase that build up to a discount at the till, and get members-only discounts that change each month. Members also get 10% off all bulk foods, all the time, which covers the loose herbs, spices, dried fruit, nuts and grains. There is a monthly email newsletter, and access to members-only programs and events. Ask us in store if you would like to join.
Delivery and postage
Local delivery is free within 10km of the shop. Beyond that we post anywhere in Australia for a flat fee, though large items may attract extra postage. We do not deliver outside Australia. If you are self-isolating, live out of town, or simply prefer to shop online, this is the easiest way to get to us. On the website you can also join a waitlist and be emailed when an out-of-stock product comes back in.
