We are Albany Allsoils, and we sell landscape supplies in Albany WA from the yard on the corner of Lower Denmark Road and Frenchman Bay Road, at Robinson. Open since 2017, and open seven days
We opened the yard in October 2017 and it has not stopped growing since. Stevo and Toby run the operation and bring more than 25 years in the building industry between them, Joey came off the tools in landscaping and now handles the admin, and Jeff drives the truck. We are locally owned and we source our products from Western Australia, which matters more than it sounds when the question is how a soil behaves in this part of the Great Southern rather than how it behaves in a catalogue.
Our hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am to 5:00pm, Saturday 7:30am to 4:00pm, and Sunday 8:00am to 2:00pm. Seven days is deliberate. Most landscaping in Albany happens on a weekend, and a yard that shuts at noon on Saturday is no use to someone with two days off and a trailer.
What is in the yard
Our product range
- Mulch: Muja Black, Mushroom Mulch, Jarrah Chips, Bushland Mulch, Native Mulch and Pinebark.
- Soils: Premium Garden Mix, Premium Veggie Mix, Lawn Mix, Top Soil and Organic Soil Conditioner.
- Compost: the composted end of the yard, sold in bulk alongside the soils.
- Sands: Compaction Sand, Lime Sand, Brickies Yellow and Brickies White, Ponds Dust, Blue Metal Dust and Yellow Plasterers Sand.
- Gravels: Roadbase, Railway Ballast, Leech Drain Gravel, Rock Spalls, Basalt Gravel, 14mm Blue Stone, and Bremer Bay drainage rubble and 20mm roadbase.
- Decorative stone: Basalt and Granite Steppers, Limestone Rocks, Pink Granite Rocks, Granite Feature Rocks, Crazy Paving in granite and sandstone, Cracked Pea Gravel, Spongolite, Glacier Chip, river stone and river gravel, Ungraded Cobble and Rainbow Rubble Quartz.
- Premix concrete and gabion baskets: for slabs and footings, and for retaining and rock walls.
- In store: bagged products for jobs too small to warrant a bulk load, Canna Hydroponics, FormBoss garden edging and equipment hire.
- And the rest of it: Dale Stone paving, fire pits, jarrah sleepers and firewood.
That is most of the yard but not all of it, and the right answer usually depends on the job. Ring and describe what you are doing — a raised vegetable bed, a paved courtyard, a driveway that keeps washing out — and we will tell you what to put in it and how much of it you need.
Three products worth knowing about before you order
Muja Black is shredded pine coloured a vibrant black, with a highly UV resistant colourant. It suits any garden and does well as a moisture retainer and weed suppressant — lay it 75 to 100mm thick if weed suppression is the point. One warning worth having in advance: the dye can stain, so make sure a tarp is down when a load is delivered, or the driveway will wear some of it.
Premium Garden Mix is composted chicken manure, crushed and graded pine bark and mill waste, blended with peat and topsoil. It is light for a garden mix, light enough that people use it as an alternative to potting mix.
Firewood we sell by the half cubic metre bucket, two buckets to the cubic metre, as dry split jarrah, mill ends or sugar gum. Mill ends are the popular one. Firewood is scarce at the moment, so buy early in the year rather than in the middle of winter — most yards stop supplying before winter is out.
Getting it home: trailers, trucks and bulk loads
If you have no way to shift a cubic metre of anything, we have courtesy trailers, free of charge for up to two hours when you buy a product from us. That covers most small jobs without anyone needing to own a trailer.
For larger loads we deliver. The tipper ute takes up to 1.5 cubic metres, the small truck up to 4 cubic metres, and the large truck up to 10 cubic metres. Bulk orders over 10 cubic metres are welcome, so a full landscaping job or a build can be supplied in one go rather than in dribs.
Paying, and setting up an account
We take cash, card or cheque, and we can take an order and a payment over the phone if it is easier than coming in — useful when you are on a site and cannot get to the yard before knock-off.
