From a one-person plumbing business to a King River team
Albany Plumbing and Gas is locally owned and operated. Brook and Jo grew it from a one-person plumbing business, formerly known as Gors Plumbing & Gas, into a team that now employs tradespeople and apprentices in plumbing and gas fitting. Between us there is more than 54 years of combined experience in the trade.
That covers maintenance plumbing, new housing, commercial work, gas fitting, backflow prevention and emergency plumbing — so most things a house or a business is likely to need, without having to find a second contractor halfway through.
What we do
Our services
- Hot water systems: servicing and replacement.
- Blocked drains: clearing blockages, with our own drain camera and hydro jet machine.
- Gas fitting: gas fitting and servicing of gas appliances.
- Leaking taps and toilets: the small repairs that quietly add up on a water bill.
- Water hammer: tracking down and fixing the banging in the pipes.
- Backflow prevention: installation and ongoing maintenance.
- Storm water harvesting: capturing and directing storm water on site.
- Construction plumbing: residential and commercial construction work.
Backflow prevention is one worth naming, because it is a compliance job rather than a comfort one. If your property has a backflow device, it has to be tested and maintained, and it is not something every plumber is set up to handle. It has been part of what we do since the start — it is in the business’s own description of itself.
Maintenance, new builds and commercial work
Our work splits three ways. There is maintenance plumbing — the taps, toilets, hot water systems and blocked drains that keep a house running. There is new housing, where the plumbing goes in as the build goes up. And there is commercial and construction work, which is a different rhythm again: staged, scheduled and answerable to a builder’s program.
Gas is the other half of the business. We fit gas and service gas appliances, covering the gas side of hot water, cooking and heating. Storm water harvesting sits alongside that for properties wanting to capture and direct what falls on the roof rather than send it down the drive.
We also own our gear rather than hiring it in: a hydro jet wash machine, a drain camera and an excavator. It sounds like a small thing until a drain has to be found before it can be fixed. Having the camera and the jetter on hand means we can look inside a line, work out what is actually happening, and clear it in the same visit instead of booking you in twice. The excavator matters for the jobs where the answer is under the ground.
Hours, emergencies and getting in touch
We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Outside those hours we run a 24-hour emergency service — burst pipes and gas problems do not keep office hours, and if you need us, we are there.
For booked work, you choose the time that suits you rather than waiting on a vague window. Call Brook on 0400 500 258 or email [email protected], or send an enquiry through the form on our website. If it is a blocked drain or a hot water system, tell us what you can see and hear when you ring — it helps us bring the right thing on the truck the first time.
