Tankman sells, installs and services water tanks from 31046 Albany Highway, Mount Barker. We supply Australian-made steel and polyethylene tanks, we put them in, and we look after tanks that are already on the ground. Locally owned on Albany Highway since 1990
Tankman has been trading since 1990 and has always been locally owned and operated. Wes Sounness took the business on in July 2016 and reaches ten years of ownership in July 2026. Between us the team carries more than 30 years of experience in the tank industry, and we run our own young installation crew rather than sending the work elsewhere. The tanks we sell
We are the exclusive Pioneer Water Tanks dealer for this part of the state and we also supply West Coast Poly. Pioneer tanks are made in Australia from Bluescope steel, with an 8-80 V-LOCK wall profile engineered here, mechanically sealed bolts instead of silicone, and a Swivel Foot roof connection. Inside every one sits the Aqualiner Fresh liner: Australian made, 100 per cent BPA free, double seam welded, and treated with SANITIZED antimicrobial protection against mould, algae, mildew and biofilm. Colours on the steel tanks run to eight standard Colorbond shades, from Classic Cream and Surfmist through to Monument and Wallaby, with another thirteen available as a non-standard order. West Coast Poly tanks are matched to the Colorbond range too, across a much wider standard palette.
Our tank ranges
- Pioneer standard height: sixteen models from the GT10 at 12,241 litres up to the GT280 at 276,180 litres, all 2.18m high, with a 20-year conditional warranty.
- Pioneer taller models: nineteen models from the GTi18 at 18,164 litres to the GTi501 at 500,659 litres, 3.24m high, with a 10-year conditional warranty. From the GTi410 up they take the commercial-grade INDUSTRATEX liner.
- West Coast Poly agricultural: ten sizes from 4,500 litres to 50,000 litres, each with a 20-year guarantee, fitted as standard with brass outlets, mosquito-proof overflows, leaf strainers and drain bungs.
- West Coast Poly residential: ten shapes from a 320-litre mini-round through slimline, oval and terrace tanks built for tight blocks, up to the 4,500-litre Mega Slim, all with a 10-year warranty and a lockable 19mm outlet tap.
A Pioneer tank arrives with a set of two anodes, a 50mm outlet and ball valve, a 150mm overflow with downpipe and flap valve, a stainless steel leaf filter or poly inlet, and an access hatch with ladder. A quote includes GST and assembly on a prepared pad, with travel charged by the kilometre on top.
Refurbishing the tank you already have
Replacing a tank is not always the sensible move. We refurbish concrete and steel tanks of any brand, and we have installed hundreds of new liners into tanks of every shape and size. Re-lining with an Aqualiner Fresh liner extends the life of what you already own and puts a stop to the leaks. Before we quote, we assess the structure for leaks, cracks and anything else that would sit against a new liner. We also supply and install new roofs for tanks of any size or shape, strap concrete tanks so hairline cracks cannot spread, and give tanks a thorough clean out.
Pumps, filtration, accessories and site work
A tank on its own is only half the job. We supply and install Grundfos pumps, including the CMB 5-46 and the JP PM 5-48, along with the Puretec Hybrid-E7 dual stage rainwater filtration system. Our accessories range covers geotextile underlay blankets, Superseal dustproofing, camlock fire outlets, stainless steel leaf filter baskets, smart water savers, water level indicators and anode replacement, and we will fit any of it to an existing tank as readily as a new one. We do the earthworks and sand pad preparation, supply and lay blue metal aggregate, and connect the pump when the tank goes in.
