Keilor Contracting Pty Ltd is an earthmoving and civil business based in the Great Southern region of Western Australia, working out of Albany since we were established in 2015. We describe ourselves as a diverse, full-service earthmoving and civil business specialising in complex projects in challenging environments, and that is a fair description of the country around here. Complex jobs in difficult country
Lloyd Slack is our Managing Director, and he is the person you speak to. Our contact hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm, which is the earthmoving day rather than the office day. The first consultation is free, and we quote on the job rather than on the phone number you dialled. Our gallery carries photographs of work from mid-2021 through to mid-2023, which gives a fair idea of the scale and type of the jobs we take on.
Being full-service matters more than it sounds. On a Great Southern job the constraints are usually the same three things: what the ground is made of, how far it is to the nearest supplier, and how long the weather will hold. Running our own crushing plant, our own earthmoving fleet and our own cartage means we are not standing about waiting for a subcontractor to become available before the next stage can start.
The work we take on
Our services
- Crushing and screening: mobile crushing and screening of gravel, sands, soils, blue rock, concrete and asphalt, processed where it lies rather than carted away and carted back.
- General earthmoving: site cuts, site works, roads, driveways, hardstands and gravel stockpiling.
- Bulk excavation and subdivisions: the large-volume work that gets a development out of the ground.
- Vegetation control: land clearing, slashing, mulching, stump removal, firebreaks and fire mitigation.
- Drainage: swale drains, catchments, cross overs and box section culverts.
- Material supply: gravel, armour rock, filter rock, compaction sand, lime sand, blue metals and road base.
- Dam sinking: gully dams, turkey nest dams and hillside dams.
Those service lines cover both ends of the trade. At one end are subdivisions, road formation, drainage and box culverts. At the other are the jobs that read as rural rather than civil: sinking a turkey nest or hillside dam, mulching and stump removal, and putting a firebreak in. We work for local government and private sector clients across both.
The plant we run
Our crushing and screening plant runs a jaw crusher, an impact crusher and a cone crusher, with a scalping screen, an incline screen and a stacker. For earthworks we run wheel loaders from 13 tonne to 25 tonne, excavators from 1.8 tonne to 35 tonne, and skid steers including a high-flow posi track with a range of attachments. Compaction is handled by smooth drum and pad foot rollers. Our dozers are a Komatsu D85 and a Komatsu D155, and our grader carries a 14 foot blade with a GPS option.
For cartage we run 6-wheelers, a prime mover, end tippers, road train side tippers, a quad axle low loader and water carts. That combination means we can crush on site, move the product, and place and compact it without waiting on someone else’s truck.
