Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre: Pools, Gym and Classes in Albany WA
We are the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, the City of Albany’s leisure and aquatic centre in Albany WA, at 52–70 Barker Road in Centennial Park. We run pools, a gym, group fitness and aqua classes, a swim school and holiday programs, and we are open seven days a week.
What is in the water
The centre features an eight-lane 25-metre lap pool, a 25-metre leisure pool with four lanes, a river ride, a beach entry, a water slide, a spa, a steam room and a cafe. The lap pool and the leisure pool are separate things, which is worth knowing if you are bringing children as well as swimming laps. The water slide is free with pool entry and open at selected times during the school term, with extended hours in the school holidays.
Supervision rules apply and we publish them plainly. Children under 5 must be constantly supervised and kept within arm’s reach, and if the child is in the water the parent or guardian must be in the water too. Children under 10 must be actively supervised by a parent or guardian at all times while they are in the centre.
Aqua classes, and the swim school
Aqua fitness classes run in the water rather than on the gym floor, and there are three of them. Aqua Splash is a low impact, moderate intensity class held in the waist-deep leisure pool, aimed at improving strength, flexibility and endurance. Aqua Deep is the deep-water class, targeting cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength, flexibility and core stability with the support of a buoyancy belt to keep you afloat. Aqua Energy is a low impact class aimed at cardiovascular fitness, strength, stability and bone density, and no swimming experience is required for it.
Our swim school teaches through the school terms, with classes for infants, preschoolers and school-age children, plus a swim school holiday program and VacSwim during the breaks. The swim school has its own office line on (08) 6820 3420 and enrolments go through the client portal on our website.
The gym, and 24/7 access
Our gym holds pin-loaded strength machines, free weights, plate-loaded machines, cardio equipment with personal TV screens, and a multi-frame functional training circuit. Group fitness classes run to a timetable we publish on the website, and personal programs are available if you would rather be shown what to do than work it out alone.
Members can also add 24/7 gym access. To use it you need to be 18 or older, hold a current Full or Gym and Group Fitness membership, and complete a 24/7 safety induction. A one-off access fee applies. Long Live You and GO YOUth members are not eligible for 24/7 access, and casual entry is not available outside staffed hours.

Birthday parties and hiring the place out
Birthday parties are one of the things the centre is used for most. There is a pool inflatable booked for exclusive use with two dedicated lifeguards, and a Wobble Log inflatable with one, both suited to children aged 6 and over who are Stage 4 swimmers or above. On dry land there is roller skating with exclusive use of a court and our skates, and a court inflatable, and either comes with use of the BBQ area or the indoor tables. You can also plan a party around the water slide opening times and book the BBQ area or indoor tables to go with it. Party bookings go to [email protected] or (08) 6820 3436.
Beyond parties, our pool areas, indoor courts and the meeting rooms at Retravision Stadium are all available for hire. The courts have hosted large sporting tournaments, science fairs, senior games, ballroom dancing and community gatherings. Aquatic hire covers in-term swimming lessons, aqua group fitness, pool lane hire, water polo and school carnivals, and use of the water slide and inflatable subject to availability.
Hours, membership and finding us
We are open Monday to Friday from 5.45am to 8pm, Saturday from 8am to 5pm, and Sunday from 8am to 3pm. You will find us at 52–70 Barker Road, Centennial Park, and you can reach us on (08) 6820 3400 or at [email protected].
Memberships come in three kinds: Full Access, Gym and Group Fitness, and Aquatic. Full Access takes in court access, spa and sauna, and one free child creche membership. The Poolside Cafe on site is independently operated and offers a range of healthy food options and catering packages for functions and birthday parties, with tables booked through the cafe itself. The wider Centennial Park sporting precinct and the Albany Indoor Sports Centre sit alongside us. If you are not sure which membership suits, ring reception and ask, or call in and have a look around before you commit to anything.
