We are cabinet makers in Albany, designing, building and installing kitchens and cabinetry for homes across Albany and the Great Southern. Rainbow Kitchens was started in 2005 by Nathan Groenewold and Richard Schoof. We do not work from pre-fabricated carcasses or pre-designed templates — every job is drawn for your space, then built in our own workshop before it comes to your house.
Made here, by trades who work for us
The construction happens in our own factory in Albany. Your job is completely manufactured and assembled in the workshop, so the fit is checked before anything is loaded on a truck, and all work and installation is carried out by qualified tradespeople. We use HMR board and quality hardware throughout, put solid backs on all cabinetry and fully line the cabinets and shelves so they wipe out easily. Where we need a specialty item we source it direct from Western Australian businesses, including vinylwrap doors and Squareform benchtops. Units arrive fully assembled, which keeps installation days short and the mess down.
How the design process works
It starts with a conversation. Bring your house plans in and talk to Nathan about the layout and how you want the room to work, and we will give you a prompt, obligation-free quote on your preferred layout and finishes. From there we run a site consultation, either at your place or in our showroom where the components are all at hand, and go through the finer points of the design and the finish. If you want to proceed, you come back to the showroom to review the final design with computer drafting, and you leave with a copy of the plans and a specifications summary for your cabinetry. We then oversee construction and installation through to completion, and we can arrange trusted trades for the other parts of the job or work alongside the ones you already use. A free measure and quote service applies from the start.
Finishes, benchtops and hardware we work with
Because we design in specialised software and manufacture in-house, we are not restricted in what we can specify. You can see your cabinets as computer-generated drawings before we start building them.

Kitchens are the bulk of what we do, but our cabinetry work is not limited to them. Because we are not restricted in the materials we use, the same room can be quoted in painted doors or in the more budget-conscious laminate range, and the design adjusted to suit the investment range you have in mind rather than the other way around.
