Superior Kitchens & Cabinets: Kitchen Design and Cabinet Making in Albany WA
We design, manufacture and install custom kitchens and cabinetry for homes across the Great Southern, and you will find our office and selection centre at 39 Campbell Road, Albany. If you want a cabinet maker in Albany who builds the job rather than ordering it in, that is what we do. Concept, design, manufacture and installation all stay with us, and the cabinetry itself is made locally.
A Family Business and Four Decades of Cabinet Making
Jake Maring owns the business and has been making cabinets for more than forty years. He started at fifteen, working alongside his father Jack at Ringma Cabinets in Armadale. The Maring family moved to Albany in 2003, and Jake bought this business in 2013 when it was still trading as HK Cabinets. It became Superior Kitchens – Great Southern in 2016, and Superior Kitchens & Cabinets in 2020.
It is still run by the family. Jake’s wife Marian is his business partner. Their eldest son Brendan is our head installer and their son Darren, who joined in 2020, is our designer and estimator. Their daughter Olivia came into the business in 2026 as receptionist and pre-start coordinator. Ashley works with us as a tradesman and site installer, and Harry Gilbert is in his second year of apprenticeship.
How a New Kitchen Comes Together
We work to a three-step process — design, then manufacture, then installation — and the same business stands behind each step. Because we keep hold of every stage, the quality checks happen before anything leaves for site rather than after it arrives.
What each stage involves
- Design consultation: you sit down with one of our designers to work through the layout, the finishes and the budget.
- Selections: we work with trusted suppliers on cabinet finishes, door profiles, hardware, colours and stone products, and we will build around the appliances you have chosen.
- Manufacture: your cabinetry is made locally in Albany and checked before it goes anywhere.
- Installation: an experienced supervisor runs the install.
- Other trades: we can help arrange removal of the old kitchen, organise plumbers and electricians, and liaise with your builder if other work is running at the same time.
- Splashbacks: we supply Laminex Metaline and Reflection splashbacks, and stone alternatives.
What We Take On, and What We Don’t
We would rather tell you up front. We design and manufacture new custom cabinetry, so we do not modify or add to an existing kitchen — that means no swapping cupboard fronts and no dropping a new benchtop onto old carcasses. We do not install glass splashbacks either, though we can recommend reliable tradespeople who do. A kitchen renovation is a substantial project, and what it comes to varies. Where the final figure lands depends on the size of the kitchen, the scope of the work, the materials and finishes you choose, and how much of the job is custom.
Quotes, Country Work and Getting Started
If you already have detailed plans and designs, your quote is free. If you need design help to get to that point, that work is charged, and we will tell you what is involved before you commit. We are happy to take on projects in regional and country locations, with a travel charge outside our local area. Lead times vary, because every project is different — custom painted cabinetry or associated building work will stretch the timeline, and we will work in with your schedule as best we can.
