Amped Electrics Albany was established in 2013 by Glen Aylmore, an Albany local, as an electrical contracting business. It has stayed a local operation working the town and the country around it.

The residential side is where most of our work sits. The aim on a house is simple enough: functional, comfortable, efficient and safe. The installation list runs to air conditioning, smoke alarms, RCDs and safety switches, switchboard upgrades, power saving upgrades, lighting, TV points and antennas, audio visual and surround sound, internet data points, phone points, kitchen appliances, bathroom heating, hot water systems, exhaust and ceiling fans, and additional power points.
The maintenance list is shorter and more familiar: electrical fault finding, smoke alarms, RCDs and safety switches, electrical safety inspections and safety certificates, switchboard upgrades, power saving upgrades, and general electrical repairs. Smoke alarms and RCDs are the two most people put off and the two that matter most on the day something goes wrong.
On the commercial side we do maintenance and new installations for sheds, workshops, offices and shops. That takes in test and tagging, smoke alarms, RCDs and safety switches, shed and workshop wiring, phone and data points, and exit lighting. Compliance is the recurring job. Test and tagging keeps equipment legal and safe, and it is one of those obligations that is easy to let slide until someone asks for the paperwork.
New builds and renovations
On a new build or a renovation, getting involved early is usually what makes the difference — where the power points go, what the lighting has to do, and how much of the wiring you will wish you had done before the walls closed up. We can organise your build’s electrical requirements from the initial consultation with Western Power through to your final fit-out, which means the connection paperwork and the last light fitting are handled by the same business rather than falling between two.
