Ganzer Electrical: Electricians in Albany and the Great Southern

We’re a local electrical contractor based in Albany, working on residential, commercial, industrial and rural jobs right across the Great Southern Region. If you need an electrician in Albany WA — a switchboard that keeps tripping, a shed that needs power, or a whole house re-wire — give us a ring and we’ll come and have a look. Quotes are obligation free, and our electricians are fully insured.

Local work, and a fair bit of it out past the town limits

Most of our work comes back to us through people we’ve already done a job for. Westerberg Marine here in Albany have had us in for the past three years — test and tagging their tooling, sorting workshop faults, and wiring in new machinery as it arrives. Local builders use us across new homes, renovations and commercial projects. And we don’t stop at the edge of town: one recent job was a 700-metre underground power run out in the Stirling Ranges, which is about as far from a neat suburban job as you can get.

The team has grown with the work. Ganzer Electrical started as a single tradesman and is now four fully qualified tradesmen, three apprentices and two office administrators, which is nine local jobs that did not exist before. Casey Ganzer is the director and an electrical tradesman himself. Joel Flick, Jake Hooper and Jordan Hulm are our electrical tradesmen; Davey Wignall, Liam Durack and Ryan Flick are our apprentices; and Jessica Standish is our administration manager with Elle Philbey assisting. We sponsor local sporting clubs and teams regularly, which is the other way a business this size ends up woven into a town.

Electrical work around the house

What we do for homes

  • New installations and renovations: from planning the layout to the final fit-off.
  • Re-wires and switchboard upgrades: the jobs older Albany houses eventually need.
  • Shed wiring and underground power: including runs to outbuildings well away from the house.
  • Smoke alarm and RCD testing: the safety checks that are easy to forget until you need them.
  • LED lighting: upgrades and new lighting throughout.
  • Home automation: automation and control systems designed and installed as part of a build or a renovation.
  • Underfloor heating: fitted on several of the new homes we have wired around Albany and Denmark.
  • Socket outlets, ceiling fans and air-conditioner wiring: the small jobs that make a house work properly.
  • TV, phone and data: cabling for the parts of the house that need a connection.
  • Maintenance and appliance replacement: for when something has simply given up.

Commercial, rural and solar

On the commercial side we handle office fit-outs, refurbishments, lighting and LED upgrades, repairs, preventative maintenance and test and tag. We also do energy audits alongside the LED work, so a business can see where the power is actually going before it spends money changing anything. Every commercial project arrives with its own plans, guidelines and specifications, and we work inside those and inside the relevant safety standards rather than around them.

Out on rural properties the list looks different: generator installation, changeover switches, switchboard upgrades, shed wiring, underground power and general electrical work. We’re set up for jobs where the nearest pole is a long way off.

We also do solar. That includes rooftop installations around Albany and battery systems for households wanting more out of the panels they already have — and if a battery doesn’t stack up for your place, we’ll say so.

Some of the jobs we’ve done

Our own capability statement lists the projects, and they give a better idea of the range than any description would. Boronia Gardens Lifestyle Village in Albany was a full electrical installation to 30 retirement units, with electrical design services provided, for developer Western Corporate and builder Gliosca Homes. Golden Hill Steiner School at Scotsdale was a full installation with an underground pit system and an extensive lighting layout, with PTX Architects and builder Westruct. The Edwards Street residence at Mt Shadforth took in a full installation, garden lighting and home automation, and the Inlet Drive residence at Denmark a full installation and a 20kW solar system.

Closer to home there is a 6.6kW residential solar system with a 5kW hybrid inverter here in Albany, and a bowling green lighting upgrade at Green Range covering underground services and a lighting tower. Three more houses show where a lot of our recent new-build work sits: McKenzie Street in Albany, full installation with underfloor heating and 6.6kW of solar, with MDC Architects and Nuform; Tysoe Close in Denmark, full installation with underfloor heating, with Benson Design and Westruct; and Collie Street in Albany, full installation with underfloor heating and 6.6kW of solar, with Casterly McCrimmon Architects and Nuform.

Emergencies, quotes and getting hold of us

Electrical faults don’t keep business hours, so we run a 24/7 service for electrical emergencies on 0460 849 867. If it can wait until morning, email [email protected] or call Casey on 0409 061 725, and we’ll get a time sorted. One thing worth saying plainly: electrical work isn’t a job to have a go at yourself to save a few dollars. Ring us and we’ll quote it, no obligation.
