Acorn Trees & Stumps: Tree Lopping and Stump Grinding in Albany WA
We are Acorn Trees & Stumps, based in Albany WA and servicing the Great Southern. We do tree lopping in Albany WA and everything that follows on from it — pruning, removal, climbing, stump grinding, and the wider vegetation work that is less about one tree than about clearing a whole block. The number is 0428 417 393, and the email is [email protected].
Specialists in arboriculture and tree risk management
That is the phrase we use for our own work, and the risk half of it is usually why the phone rings. A tree leaning over a roof, a limb hanging above a driveway, a stump left behind by someone else — these are jobs where the question is not whether the tree can come down but how it comes down without taking a fence, a shed or a powerline with it. We are fully insured, and we offer free, no obligation quotes, so having us come and look at a tree costs nothing and settles the argument about whether it needs to go.
Our team takes pride in the work they provide and are committed to adhering to the client’s standards. That matters more than it sounds on a job with a spec attached to it, which a fair share of ours have.
What we take on
The work runs from tree removal through to fire break installation and weed control, and we offer services to clients from residential to Government areas. A single backyard tree and a stretch of roadside verge are both an ordinary day here.
Our services
- Tree pruning and removal: the core of the business, from a single overhanging limb to a whole tree.
- Tree climbing: for trees a machine cannot get near, whether that is a tight backyard or soft ground.
- Stump grinding and removal: the part people forget to book until the stump is still there a year later.
- Street tree clearing: verge and roadside work.
- Vegetation management and clearing: including parkland clearing on larger sites.
- Fire breaks and weed control: our staff are qualified as Pest & Weed Management technicians.
- Mulching and mulch sales: the chippers turn the day’s work into mulch, and we sell mulch as well.
The gear we run, and why it matters to a quote
Most of what separates a straightforward job from an expensive one is whether the right machine can reach the tree. We run 18 inch and 12 inch chippers, elevated work platforms at 24 metres and 15 metres, a Tree Squirrel, a 35 horsepower 4×4 stump grinder, and a 120 horsepower Posi Track with a forestry mower.
For the broader vegetation work we operate a tractor or Posi track loader fitted with either a forestry mower for the heavier vegetation, up to 300mm in diameter, or a slasher option for the grassy areas. Those are two different jobs and they need two different attachments, which is worth knowing when you describe a block over the phone: standing regrowth with real stems in it is mower work, and paddock grass is slasher work.
We also run a Noremat reach-mower that can prune up to 80mm in diameter. Its purpose is to maintain the vertical heights to the required minimum of 4.5 metres, which is the clearance a road or an access track has to hold, so it is the machine for a long boundary line rather than a single tree.
That range is the reason it is worth telling us what you are actually looking at when you call. A 24 metre platform gets to things a ladder never will, and a Posi Track with a forestry mower turns a paddock of regrowth into a morning’s work rather than a fortnight’s. Equally, if the job is one small tree in a courtyard, it is a climber and a chipper and nothing more.
Getting a quote from us
Quotes are free and come with no obligation. Ring 0428 417 393 or email [email protected], tell us where the tree is, what is underneath it and how close the access is, and we will come and look. If your job is weeds or a fire break rather than a tree, say so when you call — that work sits with our Pest & Weed Management side and is quoted the same way. We work across Albany and out through the Great Southern, so distance is worth mentioning up front too.
