Albany Skips: Skip Bin Hire in Albany WA
Albany Skips is a residential and commercial skip bin hire business working across Albany and the Great Southern region of Western Australia. We are locally owned and operated and have operated in Albany and the surrounding region since 1999. Our depot is at 20 Mallard Road, Willyung WA 6330, and we deliver out from there, with same-day delivery available.
From under forty bins to a fleet of three trucks
Albany Skips initially started with less than forty bins and one truck, and grew to servicing over two hundred and forty bins with three design specific trucks. We offer waste management services to the building industry, local businesses, government bodies and domestic clients, so the same yard that drops a single bin on a driveway also keeps sites and shops serviced week in, week out.
Running that many bins around a town means the boring things matter. We keep written policies covering vehicle operation, hydraulic operation, operating safety, load containment, protective clothing, sun protection, injury management, property damage, and waste handling and management.
The bins we hire out
There are two product lines: the skips most people picture, and front lift bins for premises that need a bin on site all the time.
Skips and front lift bins
- 3 cubic metre skip: our smallest skip, 3.1m long by 1.7m wide by 70cm tall, holding roughly three trailer loads.
- 5 cubic metre skip: roughly six trailer loads, and fitted with drop-down doors.
- 7 cubic metre skip: our largest skip, roughly nine trailer loads, also with drop-down doors.
- 1.5 cubic metre front lift bin: 1800mm wide by 900mm long by 950mm high, about 1.75 standard 6 x 4 trailers.
- 3 cubic metre front lift bin: 1800mm wide by 1350mm long by 1200mm high, about 3.5 standard trailers.
- 4.5 cubic metre front lift bin: 1800mm wide by 1800mm long by 1500mm high, about 5.5 standard trailers.
The front lift bins are lockable and available with wheels for easy positioning, which is what makes them workable behind a shop or in a shared car park. They suit general waste or cardboard recycling. Skips can be filled to 0.3m above the bin rim, in a mounded fashion, not by using additional sideboards or similar.
What goes in the bin, and what stays out
All three skip sizes take mixed waste, green waste and uncontaminated recycling. On the recycling side we take rubble, bricks, concrete, tiles and rock, along with green waste, cardboard and metals. Those materials need to be in an uncontaminated form and may have a different tip fee pricing structure — often this can be a cost saving as well, which is worth asking about before you fill a mixed bin.
Some things cannot go in a skip at all: no asbestos, no oil, no chemical and toxic waste, and no car tyres. Tyres, fridges, freezers and mattresses attract additional charges from City of Albany, so tell us if any of those are in the load rather than burying them in it. The front lift bins have their own exclusions: no asbestos, no super six fencing, no oil or paint tins with liquid still in them, no car batteries, and no tree stumps wider than 30cm in diameter.
Hire periods, delivery and booking
Bins can be hired on a same day basis, as a 24 hour service, for a month or longer, or even to have a bin on site permanently, and a hire can be extended by phone if the job runs longer than you expected. So long as we have truck access to your site, you can place your skip anywhere on your property. Council allows bins on kerbs for short periods as long as they are not an obstruction to the public. If arrangements have been made for where the bin is to be placed, then you do not need to be home when it arrives.
We deliver around Albany and out through the Great Southern, including Walpole, Denmark, Rocky Gully, Kendenup, Gnowangerup, Jerramungup and Bremer Bay. Call 0418 936 364 or email [email protected] to book a bin. We accept cash, direct payment to account, and Visa or Mastercard over the phone. We respond to customer needs Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 3.30pm, and post can go to PO Box 1250, Albany WA 6331.
