South Regional TAFE Albany: Training on Anson Road

Our Albany campus is at 5 Anson Road, and it is one of twelve South Regional TAFE campuses across the south of Western Australia. If you are after TAFE courses in Albany, this is where they are taught – 127 of them according to our campus listing, spanning agriculture, business, allied health, the trades, hospitality, hair and beauty and more. The Albany campus prides itself on offering nationally recognised training to students from all backgrounds.

A working campus, not a lecture hall

Anson Road is set up for training you do with your hands as much as training you do at a desk. There are industry-standard trade workshops and a building and construction training centre, hair and beauty salons, computer rooms, fully equipped computer labs with internet access, a professional training kitchen, and a certified organic nursery – NIAA-certified – along with classrooms and modern industry-standard equipment. A campus map is available to download from our website as a PDF, and there is a student orientation video for VETdSS students if you want to see the place before you arrive.

Some of what runs here

The course list is long and it changes with each intake, so the following is a sample rather than the whole of it. Check the current list on our website before you plan around any one qualification.

  • Hospitality, hair and beauty, horticulture: a professional training kitchen, campus salons and a NIAA-certified nursery, all on the Albany campus.

The Learning Resource Centre, and the rest of campus life

Our Learning Resource Centre holds more than 11,000 books, along with computers, reference books, language learning materials, online resources, DVDs and private study areas. Albany matters more than most campuses here: although any enrolled student or staff member can request resources from the online catalogue no matter where they are, the library’s main collections are based at the Bunbury and Albany campuses, and those are the only two. The Albany library has its own contact route as well, at [email protected] or 6371 3888.

There is a cafe with an al fresco area, and a lounge with a TV and a pool table. Food for Thought Cafe and Catering, in E Block, serves hot and cold meals to eat in or take away, Monday to Thursday from 8:00am to 2:30pm and Friday from 8:00am to 1:00pm. It is not currently open during term breaks, so it is worth checking the dates if you are coming in over a break. Free period products are available from dignity dispensers in B Block, Lower D Block, E Block, M Block and R Block, and campus staff can help you register a SmartRider concession card.

One campus in a regional network

South Regional TAFE runs campuses at Albany, Bunbury, Busselton, Collie, Denmark, Esperance, Harvey, Katanning, Manjimup, Margaret River, Mount Barker and Narrogin – Denmark, Mount Barker and Katanning being the closest of those to Albany. We are a registered training organisation, RTO code 52790, with CRICOS code 00020G, and there are fee free and low fee courses among the offerings.
