Training Alliance Group in Albany: Employment Services and Training

Training Alliance Group runs an office at Unit 1, 70-74 Frederick Street, Albany. We are an employment and training services provider delivering Commonwealth and State Government contracts across Western Australia and New South Wales, and we have been operating for more than a decade, supporting over 15,000 participants and students. The Albany office delivers two programmes: Parent Pathways and Self-Employment Assistance. This page sets out what those employment services in Albany WA involve and who is eligible for them.

Parent Pathways

Parent Pathways is for parents and carers who are the primary carer of a child under six and are not currently employed. To take part, you need to live in a Parent Pathways service area in Western Australia and receive parenting payment, carer payment or special benefit. Parents under 22, early school leavers and First Nations parents may be eligible without receiving those payments. The programme is voluntary and flexible, and taking part does not affect parenting payments.

It provides mentoring support, financial assistance towards approved costs — training, transport, driver’s licence expenses, and communications and technology needs — and connections to other support services. Participants can also receive up to $250 of engagement support vouchers towards groceries each year. We deliver Parent Pathways in partnership with the Waalitj Foundation.

Self-Employment Assistance

Self-Employment Assistance is a government-funded programme that replaced NEIS on 1 July 2022. It is for people starting a new business or growing an existing one, and it operates across the Great Southern as well as Perth North, the Wheatbelt and Kalgoorlie.

The programme includes self-employment workshops covering business fundamentals, testing an idea and digital marketing; nationally recognised Certificate III and Certificate IV courses in entrepreneurship and new business; help writing a business plan with two-year cash flow projections; business health checks for people who already trade; up to two free one-on-one business advice sessions a year; and twelve months of small business coaching with a mentor. Eligible JobSeeker Payment recipients may receive the Self-Employment Allowance for up to 39 weeks, paid fortnightly. Conditions apply — among them, that you are at least 15 years old, hold Australian citizenship or a visa with working rights, are not in full-time secondary education, and that your business or idea is reviewed by the provider first.

How our qualifications are issued

Training Alliance Group is not itself a registered training organisation. We partner with two: ABV Training & Consulting Pty Ltd (RTO 52592) and Mining Transport and Construction Services Pty Ltd (RTO 52053). We manage functions including marketing, student recruitment, training and assessment, and the issuing of qualifications on behalf of ABV and MTACS, under their names. The qualifications available through those partnerships cover civil construction, business and entrepreneurship, and community and employment services.
