Howe Accounting is a boutique accounting firm based in Albany, Western Australia, at 8/81-89 Proudlove Parade. We are accountants in Albany working in taxation and financial accounting, and we currently service over 300 clients globally. That runs from a local wanting a tax return through to a company needing accounting advice. The practice was formerly known as Brent Howe & Associates and has been operating in Albany for more than 25 years.
A father-and-son practice, trading in Albany since 1989
Brent Howe began trading in Albany in 1989 under the name Brent Howe & Associates, servicing a range of regional and international clients. His son Gareth joined the practice as an accountant and became a partner in 2017. Howe Accounting Pty Ltd began trading in July 2018 and has continued to expand since.
Brent has over fifty years of accounting experience. He started as an articled clerk in his home town of Cape Town, spent 20 years working across Zimbabwe and London as a cost accountant, and moved to Perth in 1982, where he worked as a Chief Accountant and Company Secretary for a large real estate and property management group. He has since worked as a Financial Director, CEO and partner. His areas are corporate and individual taxation, business planning and budgeting, corporate structures, cost accounting, loan application assistance, system advice and general business consulting.
Gareth is Albany born and bred. He joined his father in the practice and works in income taxation, GST and financial accounting. Dawn Holmes has over 25 years of experience as an accountant with Brent Howe. Originally from Denmark, WA, Dawn works in client liaison, bookkeeping, financial accounting and reporting, and general taxation.

- IAS and BAS statements: monthly, quarterly or annual remittance options, prepared and lodged on your behalf, with advice on which options are available to your business.
- Financial statements: compiled for taxation, loan applications, compliance, insurance claims or for information, so the numbers are on hand when you need them.
- Self-managed superannuation funds: financial statements, the income tax return, member account balances, distribution of the fund’s profits and preparation for audit. We do not give advice in this area, and Howe Accounting Pty Ltd uses an external auditor.
- Taxation advice: on past, current or future personal and business decisions, in an area of law that changes with both State and Commonwealth policy.
- Business advice: Brent works with a portfolio of clients on cost accounting, financial accounting and business decisions, with over 40 years in the industry.
We also take on bookkeeping, budgeting, PAYG payment summary certificate preparation, accounting software, new start-ups, fringe benefits taxation advice and asset protection, and we assist with estate planning and retirement planning.
