An Aboriginal business, working since 2018
Impact Services Pty Ltd was founded in 2018 and is headquartered here in Albany, with further offices at Midland, Joondalup and Mirrabooka. We are certified with Supply Nation and registered with the Aboriginal Business Directory of WA. Our aim is greater employment and economic development opportunities for Aboriginal people and their communities, and we run across four streams: employment, recruitment, contracting and diversity. We do not simply place people into jobs. We work on the barriers that stop people getting into work in the first place, through tailored programs and wrap-around mentoring.
Support for people looking for work
Our Albany office operates as a Jobs and Skills Centre, and we deliver the Aboriginal services for the Albany Jobs and Skills Centre, which is run by South Regional TAFE. That means free, practical help: careers advice, information on apprenticeships and training, and assistance with job searching and getting into employment.
What we help with
- Career advice: working out what you want to do by identifying your interests, skills and strengths, and the job pathways that fit them.
- Resumes and applications: help creating a resume and getting applications in front of the right employers.
- Job matching: connecting you with local roles, including through our Great Southern job board.
- Skills recognition and industry insights: understanding what your existing experience counts for and what local industries are actually hiring for.
- On-the-job mentoring: support that continues after you start, not just up to the point of placement.
- Apprenticeships and traineeships: engagement and placement of apprentices and trainees.
We deliver employment support through the Workforce Australia and Inclusive Employment Australia programs, and we provide culturally sensitive support for Aboriginal people looking for training or work.
Help for employers hiring in the Great Southern
For employers, we provide labour hire solutions and recruitment, covering temporary and permanent staffing, candidate sourcing and screening, and the engagement of apprentices and trainees. Our recruitment service through Workforce Australia and Inclusive Employment Australia comes at no cost to the employer and connects you with job-ready candidates who meet your workforce needs. We work closely with local businesses to create meaningful job opportunities, including for school leavers, and we support employers to develop culturally aware workplaces that can better attract and retain Aboriginal staff. Cultural awareness training and mentoring are part of that, and so is employment mentoring and workplace support after a placement starts, because a hire that is supported is a hire that stays.
Beyond staffing, we run contract services for local businesses and government agencies, including rubbish collection, commercial cleaning and gardening. That is our contracting stream, and it sits alongside employment, recruitment and diversity as one of the four ways we work.
Current Great Southern vacancies are posted on our job board, and they are ordinary local jobs rather than a wish list. A recent example was a clerical officer role with a local host company here in Albany, providing administrative support to keep an office running.
