Albany Finance Ltd: Personal and Business Lending in Albany WA
Albany Finance Ltd is a local finance company in Albany, working from Frederick House at Unit 7, 70-74 Frederick Street. We were established in 1986 and we lend to people and businesses in Albany and the surrounding districts. You will find us on the right hand side of the first floor of Frederick House, to the left of the roundabout at the bottom of Aberdeen Street, and our motto has stayed the same for a long time: local finance for local people.
A locally owned lender
Albany Finance Ltd has a strong local shareholder base, and we describe ourselves as a company with a social and community focus. We regularly contribute to a range of local organisations and charities in the Albany area. Applications are handled from the Frederick Street office, and contracts are generally signed in person, so there is a face on the other side of the loan rather than a call centre. Our lending covers both personal and business borrowing.
What we lend for
We are a general lender rather than a single-product one, and the list below is what we publish on our own site. If what you need is not on it, ask us — we lend for just about anything.
Loans we write
- Vehicles: car and vehicle loans, with no maximum age on the vehicle, although the loan term may be shorter on a very old car.
- Boats and caravans: finance for recreational purchases, handled through the same application process as a car loan.
- Renovations: lending for work on the house rather than the purchase of it.
- Electrical goods: smaller personal loans for household items, at the lower end of what we write.
- Real estate: lending against property, alongside our personal and business loans.
Applying, and what to bring
You can apply online or download our application pack and fill it in on paper. The online form runs to nineteen steps, and there is a Save and Continue Later option at every one of them, so it does not have to be finished in a single sitting. Before you start, the application page publishes three documents worth reading first: a Privacy Consent Notice, a notice headed Do You Need A Loan, and an Application Requirements sheet.
Either way we ask for the same four things: a current Australian driver’s licence, proof of income, a monthly budget, and your most recent 90 days of bank statements. Once we have the final piece of paperwork, we can give you an answer one business day later. If you are not ready to buy yet, we can hold a pre-approved application in the office for up to three months. We accept most Centrelink payments as a form of income, with two exceptions we are clear about: we cannot accept JobSeeker or Youth Allowance.
The form also asks which kind of credit you are applying for. Personal and business credit are handled separately, and where the borrowing is wholly or predominantly for business or investment purposes there is a separate commercial credit declaration to sign. Signing it can mean the protections of the Consumer Credit Code do not apply to that loan, so it is worth being clear which of the two you are applying for before you sign anything. Copies of our Target Market Determinations are available by contacting the office.
Repayments, and how to reach us
Repayments are normally monthly, but you can pay as often as you like and there are no extra fees for paying more often. You can pay over the counter at Frederick Street, by post, by internet or bank transfer, or by BPAY. If a payment is going to be difficult, contact us and ask about the assistance available rather than letting it go quiet. Borrowers who already have a loan with us can apply for another by getting in touch with the office. Call us on (08) 9841 5100, email [email protected], or come up to the first floor of Frederick House and talk it through in person.
