The people who will look after your arrangements
Bill Roth is a fourth generation funeral director. As a child he worked alongside his grandfather in Holland, and he came to this work from a large family of his own. Sherrie Atkinson grew up in rural Western Australia and came to funeral directing from a background in nursing and aged care here in Albany. We arrange funerals for families of every creed, ethnicity and background, and we are familiar with Aboriginal funeral traditions. Ceremonies, and where they can be held
A funeral can be religious or non-religious. It can be led by a minister, by a celebrant, or by a relative or trusted friend. Services are held in a church, in a crematorium chapel, at a cemetery graveside, or in another place that meant something to the person who has died. Arrangements we make include a chapel service with burial in a family plot, a service in your own church followed by burial, a cremation followed by a catered get-together, a natural earth burial, and a viewing followed by an outdoor ceremony. We liaise with cemeteries and crematoria on your behalf, and we arrange the hearse and mourning cars. Flowers, newspaper notices and a memorial book can all be organised through us.
Set packages, viewings and live-streamed services
We publish three set packages so families can see what is covered before they commit: a non-attended cremation, a cremation with a service in a large chapel, and a burial with a service. Each covers transport of the deceased within Albany and local surrounds, the professional service fee, a baseline standard coffin, all permits and legal certificates and the final death certificate, with GST included. Cemetery and burial charges vary between cemeteries and sit outside the burial package. The chapel package uses Allambie Chapel, which seats 160 people and is fully air conditioned, and includes a digital photo display and the music you choose. Families may choose between a modern hearse and our 1967 Chevy Impala. A viewing at our Grey Street premises is included. Order of service printing, a cinematic video, flowers and tributes, funeral notices, an attendance book and ashes urns can be added, and coffins can be upgraded or custom made. For graveside services we bring our own audio equipment. We also offer live-streamed funerals for family and friends who cannot travel to Albany.
Paperwork, common questions and how to contact us
After the funeral we register the death with the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages and order the death certificate, which usually takes about seven days from the date of the service.
