Amity Rose Funerals: A Funeral Home in Albany WA

Amity Rose Funerals is a funeral home in Albany, at 9 Cockburn Road in Mira Mar. We arrange and conduct funerals for families in Albany and the surrounding districts, and our phone is answered at any hour of the day or night on (08) 9841 3090. We describe our work as Christ-like care for grieving families and friends, and we are a member of Funerals Australia.

Chris and Sandra

Chris and Sandra Woonings were both born and raised in Albany. Chris has worked as a pastor with the Presbyterian Inland Mission since 2009 and spent six years volunteering with St John Ambulance, and he brings that experience of sitting with people in hardship and grief into this work. Sandra’s part is the planning: thorough, detailed, and led by what the family has actually asked for. Between us the aim is straightforward — to carry the arrangements so that your family has the time and space to look after each other.

The funeral home on Cockburn Road

Everything happens on the one site. Our chapel is air-conditioned and seats up to 220, with multimedia, an audio induction loop for anyone who is hard of hearing, and recording facilities. There is parking on site for 64 vehicles. There is a function room for the gathering afterwards, and a private viewing room for families who choose to have a viewing — a decision that is entirely yours, and one our staff will talk through with you either way. A separate arrangement room gives families somewhere private for what can be a long conversation, and it can be used to meet your celebrant. Our conference room has Skype, so family in another part of the country can be part of the arrangements. In the coffin room we hold caskets and coffins in a range of materials and finishes, from eco-friendly and timber through to metal and customised, and urns are on display. For the day itself there is a choice of a black or burgundy hearse with matching limousine or Caprice mourning vehicles, or, if that is not what suits, a Harley trike with drawn carriage or our truck hearse. We also have our own mortuary, which means that once your loved one comes into our care they stay with us through to the day of the service, with all preparation done here. That work is carried out by trained staff, in accordance with health regulations and the guidelines set by the Australian Institute of Embalming.

When people cannot be there in person

We can live stream a service from any location, indoors or outdoors, as long as we can get an internet connection. We record what we stream, so the service can be watched later, downloaded and shared with people who could not be there on the day. For families spread across the country or overseas, it is often the practical answer.

Planning ahead, pricing, and afterwards

Some people would rather have it settled in advance. We keep a pre-arranged funeral and personal profile record, and we offer a fixed price funeral plan — a written contract setting out the funeral you have chosen, at today’s prices. We can also explain funeral bonds, which work differently: money set aside for funeral costs that does not lock in a price or record your wishes. Our pricing guide is published on our website in accordance with the Fair Trading (Funeral Pricing Code of Practice) Regulations 2022, so you can look at what things cost before you talk to anyone. After a funeral, our pastoral care staff can keep in touch to see how you are travelling, if that is what you would like. Upcoming services and tributes are listed on our website. Call (08) 9841 3090 at any hour, or come and see us at 9 Cockburn Road.
