Safety Risk Solutions: Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Consultants in Albany WA

We are an HSEQ consultancy working out of Level 1, 125-133 Grey Street West in Albany. HSEQ stands for health, safety, environment and quality, and it covers the systems, audits, training and record-keeping that sit behind a working site. We describe our purpose as assisting small to medium sized organisations to harness opportunity and reduce the risk of harm through simple, practicable and workable HSEQ system improvements. Businesses looking for safety consultants in Albany WA can reach the office on (08) 9840 5901.

Where our approach comes from

We did not begin in an office. As we put it on our own site, our journey into the HSEQ space started by being at the receiving end, doing the jobs where workers were expected to follow health and safety systems written by someone else. Our founder, Vadim Pantall, has worked as a brickies labourer, a welder and an underground miner, then in vocational training, and later managing a team of health and safety professionals.

That history shapes what we build. We take the view that health, safety, environmental and quality frameworks are, at their core, based on common sense principles. What we aim to produce are systems, tools and processes that support your brain rather than replace it, and we would rather make something that works for a particular business than hand over a one-size-fits-all mega system. Our stated vision is to end the need for HSEQ professionals as a standalone occupation, because it is simply how we work.

The safety and compliance services we offer

Our services are listed individually on our website, each with its own page. Work usually starts in one of three ways: a business needs a system built, something has gone wrong, or a regulator has been on site.

What we can help with

  • HSEQ management systems: systems, tools and processes built around how an organisation actually operates rather than a downloaded template.
  • Incident management: working through what happened and drawing something usable out of it.
  • Injury management: supporting an injured team member through a consultative process.
  • Improvement and prohibition notices: help responding when a notice has been issued under occupational safety and health law.
  • Risk management: practical risk work, taking the view that the psychology of risk matters as much as the mathematics of it.
  • Contractors and managing contractors: HSEQ material for businesses bidding for contracts and tenders, and pre-qualification processes for businesses engaging contractors.
  • HSEQ auditing: internal audits and gap analysis against ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, AS/NZS 4801 and OHSAS 18001.
  • Training and verification of competency: training arrangements, and VOC processes for confirming a worker can do the task.
  • Labour hire and site coverage: cover at short notice when a job is time critical.
  • Plant registration: the DMIRS plant registration that is easy to overlook.
  • WPCG permits: permits for work at retail and commercial fuel facilities.
  • Confined spaces: processes for managing confined space work.
  • Organisational culture: work on how safety is treated day to day inside a business.

Auditing and training in more detail

On the auditing side we act as an external set of eyes, establishing a baseline of HSEQ performance from the whole-of-system level down to specific themes, and we draw on published benchmarks and regulator material from bodies such as DMIRS, WorkSafe and Resources Safety when we assess where an organisation currently sits. We also carry out gap analysis for businesses working towards ISO certification.

On training, our position is that many of the skills and qualifications workplaces need are best aligned with nationally accredited competencies, and we can arrange training in areas including earthmoving machinery, working at heights, confined space and first aid. We also develop and deliver non-accredited training ourselves, such as task or equipment specific sessions and site inductions, for businesses meeting their duty to train their team members.

Our offices, hours and how to make contact

Vadim is supported by a team of technical professionals and support staff across our two offices, in Albany and in Perth, and we prefer to employ graduates and students so the next group of advisors comes up through the work. The industries we name on our site include mining, civil construction and state government.

The Albany office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm. You can call (08) 9840 5901 or 0427 096 455, email [email protected], or come to Level 1, 125-133 Grey Street West. If you are not sure which service fits your situation, phone the office and describe the job.
