Discover BIG4 Emu Beach Holiday Park: a caravan park in Albany WA

We are a caravan park in Albany at 8 Medcalf Parade, Emu Point — just metres from the shore and about ten minutes from the historic centre of town. We take caravanners, campers and families who want a cabin, and we sit in a relaxed natural setting surrounded by native peppermint trees. Luke Shuttleworth and his family bought the park in July 2014 and have been rebuilding it season by season ever since.

A park that has been rebuilt one winter at a time

Since 2014 the work has been continuous and it is all documented. The 2014 winter season saw ten major chalets and villas fully renovated inside and out. Another six chalets followed in 2015, along with improvements to the family holiday homes. In 2016 we removed eight park cabins in front of reception and redesigned the space into six large double-slab powered sites and a grassed area, relocated our permanent residents into a purpose-designed area, added another twelve powered sites and large slabbed sites for caravans and campers, and demolished and rebuilt one of the amenities blocks — which is where our private family and accessible bathrooms came from. The newest addition is our 2 bedroom Deluxe Villas, which include options designed for wheelchair access.

Accommodation, and sites for the van or the tent

All our accommodation is self-contained and non-serviced, with linen and towels supplied, and all cabins are strictly pet free.

What there is to do without leaving the gate

Our splash park has three water slides, water cannons, flower shower heads, climbing stairs and a giant tipping bucket, and it closes for winter maintenance after the July school holidays and reopens for the September ones. Beyond that there are two jumping pillows, multiple playgrounds, mini golf, pedal karts, a theatre room, and a rec room with a Kids Club space and a guest lounge. There is a modern camp kitchen with BBQ areas around the park, laundry facilities with coin-operated washers and dryers, cycle tracks and boat access. Kids Club runs during school holidays.

Reception, the shop and getting here

Reception is open 8am to 9pm in summer and 8am to 8pm in winter, and the team books tours and hands out local information. There is a small shop at reception with newspapers, ice, milk, drinks, ice-creams and basic groceries, plus DVDs and games for hire, gas refills and change for the laundries. Outside the gate you have swimming, fishing and coastal walks at Emu Point, with the National Anzac Centre and the Historic Whaling Station a short drive away.
