We are a motel in Albany, trading as Country Comfort Amity Motel at 234 Albany Highway, on the corner of Wellington Street. We have 40 rooms, all of them non-smoking, and we sit less than 2 km from the Albany CBD — close enough to walk into town for dinner, far enough back from it to be quiet. Our rooms are contemporary, spacious and practical, and they carry what you actually need for a decent night’s sleep. Whether you are down for a business trip or here with the kids for a well-earned holiday, there is a room configuration that will suit.
The rooms, and how the beds are made up
We run seven room types, so it is worth picking by bedding rather than by name. Every room has an en-suite bathroom with complimentary toiletries, an LCD flat screen TV, free WiFi, a direct dial telephone, a bar fridge, a microwave, a toaster and tea and coffee making facilities, a radio alarm clock and reverse cycle heating and air-conditioning. Rooms are serviced daily on request.
Our room types
- Standard Triple Room: queen bed plus one single, sleeps three.
- Standard Family Room: two interconnecting rooms with two bathrooms, two queen beds and two singles, sleeps six.
- Studio Apartment: queen bed, basic cooking facilities, fridge, microwave, cutlery and crockery. Wheelchair accessible throughout, with handrails in the bathroom. Sleeps two, with roller beds on request.
- Courtyard Rooms: newly renovated queen rooms, sleeps two.
- Courtyard Triple: newly renovated, queen bed plus one single, sleeps three.
- Courtyard Interconnecting Family: two interconnected deluxe rooms with two bathrooms, two queens and two singles, sleeps six.
- Corporate King Rooms: king bed, adult only, sleeps two.
What there is to do on the property
There is more here than a room and a car park. We have a below-ground pool, an on-site gymnasium, and a communal family and games room with a pool table and an open fireplace — which earns its keep in an Albany winter. There is a communal kitchen if you would rather cook, and a BBQ area with a pizza oven. Guest laundry is coin operated. Parking is free and directly in front of your room, and public transport is nearby. Reception can handle facsimile and photocopying if you are working while you are here. We also have on-site Tesla charging, free for in-house guests. No pets, with the exception of guide dogs.
The Royal Turban, our on-site restaurant
Our licensed restaurant, The Royal Turban, is open seven days a week from 5pm onwards, and there is a licensed bar as well. It serves Indian dishes. If you have driven four and a half hours down from Perth and have no interest in getting back in the car, that is the point of it. The restaurant can be reached directly on (08) 9842 1213.
Rates, bookings and cancellations
Our rates change with the season, so the current schedule for your dates comes from our booking system rather than from a fixed price list. Payment is taken on the morning of arrival from the nominated credit card, and we ask that you present a current valid credit card at check-in as security for the stay. We accept cash, Mastercard and Visa, and Amex, with a surcharge on credit card payments. If you are booking online, complete it by 12.00pm on the day of check-in; bookings made after midday are not guaranteed unless you ring reception to confirm. Cancellations and changes need at least 48 hours’ notice, otherwise the first night is charged, and more than 48 hours out there is no charge at all. The base rate covers two people in Corporate King, Standard and Courtyard queen and single rooms, and four people in the interconnecting Standard and Courtyard rooms; extra adults and children over two years are charged per person per night on top of that. A lazy day checkout until 12pm can be arranged for a fee, subject to availability.
Finding us, and how to get in touch
Albany is an easy four-and-a-half-hour drive from Perth and just over an hour by air, and there is a daily bus service to and from Perth. Coming from Perth or from Albany Airport, head south along Albany Highway, go straight through the main roundabout and keep going towards the city centre. We are 14 km from the airport and about 1 km past the roundabout on your left, at 234 Albany Highway on the corner of Wellington Street. Turn left into Wellington Street for the car park and reception. The town centre is roughly 1.4 km away. Reception is open seven days, 7am to 6pm.
