Albany Powder Coaters: Powder Coating in Albany WA

We do powder coating in Albany WA, from Unit 7, 52 Sanford Road. We specialise in a durable, colourful baked powder finish on metal surfaces, for commercial and domestic work alike — car rims, bull bars, window flashings, chassis, and plenty of things that do not fit a neat category. Call us on (08) 9841 4023 or 0437 677 860.

If it is made of metal, it can be powder coated

That is close to our working rule. Powder coating is a dry finish that is baked on, so it goes on thicker and holds up better than paint on anything that lives outdoors or takes a knock. We hold specialised powders for high wear and tear, and for high-temperature applications, so the finish can be matched to what the part actually has to survive.

No job is too big or too small. We have coated the chassis of a vehicle and a baby’s cot in white in the same shop. If you are not sure whether the thing in your shed can be done, bring it in and ask.

What comes through our booth

Work we regularly take on

  • Car rims: a lot of what we do. Mostly modern cars, in matt or gloss black or one of our silvers.
  • Bull bars and vehicle parts: blasted, hung and coated, right through to full chassis.
  • Window frames and flashings: we do all the local window frames in the Great Southern region.
  • Motorbike frames and parts: including vintage frames that come in needing a proper sandblast first.
  • Industrial and machinery components: pump parts, saw benches and similar gear.
  • Sporting and commercial fittings: basketball rings among them, in a colour formulated for the job called International Orange.
  • Custom and one-off projects: household items, furniture and restoration pieces.

Some jobs stick in the memory. We coated the rims off a 1931 Lanchester — the only car of its kind in Australia — in our Coral Black. We have brought an old motorbike frame back from the sort of condition where replacing it looked like the only option. And we powder coat the products a local business, Sharpwrax, manufactures for Jeeps, which stays in town rather than going to Perth.

Colours, samples and sandblasting

Colour is where most conversations start, and it is worth coming in rather than choosing off a screen. We keep samples on the counter, and you are welcome to take some away and hold them against whatever you are matching. Our range runs from the plain matt and gloss blacks and the shiny silvers through to Flame Red, Yellow Gold and textured finishes. Sable Black has been a steady favourite for rims for anyone chasing the flattest black they can get.

Preparation matters as much as the colour. A quality sandblast strips a part back before anything is coated, which is what allows a rusty old frame to come out looking as good as the day it was made. Parts are blasted, hung, coated in the booth and baked, then they are ready for pickup.
